Houston we have a new astronaut

Jamie_nasaWhile we were in Houston we took advantage of one of the nations coolest government complex.... NASA. I touched a rock that was on the moon, and we saw some rockets and what not.... Josh, Jamie, and I were highly entertained by the entire space program. We wore some helmets, and envied the space suits. However, much to our chagrin they put astronauts on the moon with Dells (we are all mac fans).

I have a thought I will share later, but this was a fun fact. When they put the first person on the moon they had two super computers that would fill a large room. The total memory power was about 400k.... Next time you check a big email that is 400k, think about that memory put a man on the moon. I guess when your a rocket scientist you can figure stuff out without a computer.

Danny Sebastian

DannyThis is my brother Danny Sebastian. Danny and I are probably the most alike of all my brothers even though he is 10 years younger than me. We have a ton of the same mannerisms, and were able to beat the tanks game on WII over Christmas break. He is a Freshman at Evangel University and loves it. He is now blogging and so you should check out his BLOG. Give him a read if you get a chance, and remind him that he needs a haircut....

Cheesecake

CheesecakeWe were in a restaurant last night in Houston called Papasitos.... It had great fajitas.... Anyways, I was in the lobby and saw a dessert display that looked so good and so real. In fact I have never seen a display that was so appealing, and the cheesecake looked awesome. I am not sure what got into me, but I touched it..... And it left a little residue on my fingers. So I did what any man would logically do.... I licked them to see what it was, and it tasted like cheesecake. So I had to be sure and I broke off a tiny piece. It tasted good, and so I again logically did what any cheesecake lover would do..... And that is to break off another piece. I have to admit that I would have eaten more, but the hostess was keeping a eye on me.

I am sure there is a great spiritual application in there somewhere, but I am drawing a blank at the moment. But I can tell you that I will be testing the dessert displays from here on out....

The 713

Houston_skylineThis weekend Jamie and I are taking a missions itineration excursion to Houston, TX. We are going to be at Northwood Assembly of God
which is a church that was planted by one of my CBC friends Joel Hunter. The cool thing is that one of my friends Josh Cullen works with Joel in Houston. Josh and I were on SGA together at CBC, and Josh interned with me while I was at CLA. Most importantly about Josh is that he has a crush on a store called Topman. The only problem is that it is located in Derry, Northern Ireland. But if you are ever in the area, be sure to give Josh a heads up....

We will suffering in close to 70 degree weather during January... Pray for safe travels, favor with TSA agents in the airports, and that Mac does not start walking while we are gone.....

APC

ApcThis last weekend we were at a tremendous church in the AM. Allison Park Church is a dynamic church located in the Pittsburgh area. One of our friends Andy Lehmann in on staff and it was so good to see him on Sunday. Their Lead Pastor Jeff Leake is an awsome leader in their body of believers and in the greater Pittsburgh area. They have planted 8 other churches in the city, and will continue as the Lord gives them grace. It is a church that one of our former students will be doing a college internship as well. Dave Wolf grew up in our youth ministry, and is going to be working with their youth pastor Cullen Allen. He was a former CBC grad and a fellow SGA president.....

We also went to lunch with Jeff's dad, Jim Leake. He was the pastor who planted Monroeville A/G a number of years ago. We have been so blessed by APC, and Monroeville during our itineration. The Leake's are a huge blessing to the Pittsburgh area, and they are excellent men of God. I hope to have a church planting movement with as much success some day in Greece. Iron sharpens Iron, and it was a pleasure to be around these men!!!

Middle Name???

John_wayneSo today I was on the phone with a pastor, when I was bombarded with 3 text messages. All to the "just" of call me right away.... From David Sebastian, Ryan Gerber, and Danny Sebastian.... They all go to Evangel, and I could only imagine what they were up too...

I figured they were all together and so I needed to select carefully who to call. I thought Ryan, since he was not a family member. But then chose Danny since he texted first. They were all in the caffateria at EU laughing that I called. The big deal was my middle name....

Danny guessed my middle name was Paul. But he should have known he was wrong since that is David's middle name. Ryan guessed Patrick, but he was way off. Maybe because I have been to Ireland a lot? And David guessed my mother's maiden name. I would disclose that name, but I don't want you to get online and swipe my airline miles....

All that to say none of them got it right. I have to admit you can know someone really well and not have a clue what their middle name really is....

For Aslan, FOR NARNIA!!!

Leah had a cape that she was looking forward to wearing.... When I saw her, the words "for Aslan, FOR NARNIA were on my lips. I have got to say that if I were a girl in a winter wedding I would want the same setup. I think the best part is the hand-warmer..... Leah is is a new friend of the Sebastian's, and with all this cold weather I am a little jealous. I wish I could have borrowed at least the hand-warmer while they were on their honeymoon....

The Leach Wedding

This weekend was a wonderful time with some of our friends from college. My great friends Brad Leach and Leah Edwards were joined in marriage!!! I was a groomsman in a wedding that was such a wonderful blessing to be a part of. It was one of the most God honoring experiences I have ever seen in a marriage ceremony. Both individuals have sought the Kingdom of God first all of their lives, and God has added everything else together. It was a honor to be around so many great people this weekend. I made some new friends from Michigan, and had a ton of fun hanging out with some old friends as well. I pray that my family will have that type of experience some day when our boys are getting married. I just doubt there will be that many pastors together in one room (I think there was a record, and it could have had a quorum at some district councils...)

This is a picture that I snapped a few moments after the two of them were married. Now they are in Hawaii enjoying the sun and sand....

Kayla

KaylaAs you have read in the last post our travel life was crazy. We came home exhuasted, and we had been away from home for a month. We found in our fridge a meal made by one of our good friends Kayla. She had put together a meal, desert, and some capri sun's which are Brady's favorite. It was a huge blessing and a wonderful surprise. Kayla is a young adult who is going to do great things for the Kingdom of God in the years ahead. She has been a huge blessing to the Sebastian family over the years, and she will be excellent in ministry. One day we will be lucky to say that "we know her".... You just give her a few years, and the Lord will be using her in some dynamic ways.

Thanks Kayla we love you!!!

ohh-hare

PlaneWell we were slatted to get back from Montana late on Tuesday night, but the weather was not in our favor. We were flying out of Bozeman Montana and there was a snow squall of some sorts. So our flight was really delayed. When we landed in Chicago all hope of getting to PA that night was lost. So we braved the traveling elements and spent the night in Chicago. We played on the kids playground, ate some McDonalds, dealt some disasters in the department of our non-potty trained children, and then off to a close hotel. We had no extra cloths for the adults, or toiletries... Not to mention we were slim on diapers due to the accidents in the airports.

Thankfully, we were able to catch a flight early in the morning to get back to PA. We then had some friends who are church planters in the Pittsburgh area spend the night Wednesday. Ahh a crazy life. We then leave for the Brad's wedding tonight or tomorrow morning.... Well, now you are caught up on our travels, and every-time you travel through ohare be glad you don't have to spend the night and be thankful you are potty trained.
